Susan Hyatt is a passionate advocate for social impact, dedicating her career to driving positive change through nonprofit development, strategic philanthropy and corporate social responsibility. She serves as the Secretary for Education Elevated, bringing her extensive experience in building high-impact social programs to support the organization's mission.

My Story

As the founder of Big Purpose Big Impact, Susan has worked nationally for 25+ years with nonprofits, businesses, and governmental organizations to develop and implement social programs that deliver measurable results. She has worked with over 1000 AmeriCorps programs on how to effectively measure their community impact and use data for decision-making. She provides consulting and training services to governor-appointed state service commissions to help them more effectively oversee AmeriCorps programming in their states and foster cross-sector collaboration to address local issues.

 

As the Founding Executive Director of B:CIVIC (Business Committed to Investing and Volunteering in the Community), Susan collaborated with leaders from Colorado companies of all sizes to promote, recognize, and advance business philanthropy and corporate social responsibility (CSR). Her commitment to driving social impact through business led her to author the four-time award-winning book, "Strategy for Good: Business Giving Strategies for the 21st Century."

 

Susan earned an MS degree in Community/Public Health Nutrition with a specialization in international development from Virginia Tech and completed her PhD work in Sociology at Colorado State University, focusing on social change and organization development. Her academic achievements also include a Fulbright Scholarship to the Sociology Department at the University of Helsinki, Finland, and an AAAS Science, Engineering, and Diplomacy Postdoctoral Fellowship at the U.S. Agency for International Development in Washington, DC.

 

With her wealth of experience, strategic vision, and unwavering commitment to social impact, Susan Hyatt continues to drive positive change and empower organizations like Education Elevated to make a lasting difference in the lives of those they serve.
